Robert Scholl, founder of Rescue Beverage Corporation, has combined his obsession with sports and exercise, good health, a strong social consciousness and his outgoing personality in creating The Cure, the first healthy, all-natural, hangover remedy to relieve the negative effects of alcohol. The Cure, “The After Drinking Drink,” is the healthiest course of action after drinking alcohol: it purges toxins, rehydrates the body, and restores vitamins, minerals, electrolytes and nutrients lost during alcohol consumption.
Scholl, a lifelong competitive athlete, now competes in marathons and completed his first full Ironman competition in 2006. Recognizing the extraordinary toll that extreme sports took on his body –dehydration, loss of electrolytes and energy depletion – Scholl realized these were the same effects associated with the too much drinking and the dreaded hangover.
Working closely with his sister, a developmental biologist at Duke University; Dr. Bob Parrino, a doctor of clinical psychology in Florida, who has studied alcohol effects; nutritionists; and fellow Ironman athletes, Scholl founded Rescue Beverage Corporation in 2006 and developed its sole product, The Cure, to address the fundamental causes of a hangover rather than masking it.
Prior to starting Rescue Beverage Corporation, Scholl served as president and chief executive officer of the Children’s Wilderness Fund, which developed and executed a conservation easement marketing campaign targeting landowners in Florida. His professional resume also includes work with the Amazon Herb Company, which distributes and sells herbal products to support indigenous tribes in Peru and Brazil. Scholl graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Besides being in tune with his body and mind, Scholl has a strong environmental and social sensibility. Corporate responsibility is the highest priority for Rescue Beverage Corp., which donates a large portion of profits to social and environmental causes, including programs to encourage responsible drinking.
